Gebre means “servant” in the Ethiopian language, a servant of H.I.M., the teachings of Haile Selassie and the belief in healing the world through great music. KING GEBRE characterizes his music as original expression mixed old and new elements to create a universally appealing sound, based on observations of the human condition.

KING GEBRE is seeking to “put the R back into reggae,” by looking back to the early artists influenced by the burgeoning Rastafarian movement in Jamaica, and forward to advance Reggae music and culture to evolve and influence the world.
Born in Jamaica WI, where he was exposed early to the garden of inspiration that flows from Maroon traditions. The history of Africans who not only survived the Atlantic slave trade but rebelled and retreated deep into the island where they re-formed their culture.

These ancestral sprits found their way to Harlem USA before and during the height of the renaissance, and artistic rebirth which ignited the Pan-African movement. After completing his studies, KING GEBRE relocated to Harlem to immerse himself in the culture and history of the people, which has greatly influenced his “sound”.

KING GEBRE’S process for creating his music is deeply personal, often developing ideas from dreams, daily life experiences and nature itself. His talent and technical skills bring to life his vision as he works diligently on refining his craft. Meticulously arranging each note, horn line, and chorus. Often infusing genre elements from various cultures. KING GEBRE’S musical genius, once fully realized, will be a galvanizing force for humanity.
